Terms of service

Effective 23 October 2026•Last updated 23 October 2026

The agreement between you and Novellier for using the app, the web editor and paid plans. Your writing is always yours.

1. About these terms

Novellier (“the Service”) is provided by Leon Dean T/A Novellier, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. These terms apply when you use the desktop app, the web editor or any paid plan. The software itself is also covered by our licence agreement, and how we handle personal data is explained in our privacy policy. By using the Service you agree to these terms.

2. Who can use Novellier

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to create an account or buy a plan, and they accept these terms on your behalf.

3. Your account

You can write without an account. Some features, such as AI tools, Google Drive sync and paid plans, need one. Keep your password safe, you are responsible for activity on your account, and tell us straight away at novellierdev@gmail.com if you think someone else has used it.

4. Your writing

You own everything you write in Novellier. We claim no rights over it. You give us only the limited permission needed to provide features you ask for, such as sending selected text to our AI provider when you use an AI feature. We will never publish or share your writing without your explicit consent.

Your projects are stored on your device. Keep your own backups of important work; Novellier's Vault history and exports help, but they are not a substitute for a backup.

5. AI features

AI features generate suggestions automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or unoriginal. Check anything you rely on, and you are responsible for what you publish. AI features use credits. Our provider does not use your requests to train its models.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass or harm others;
  • use it to infringe someone else's copyright or other rights;
  • try to access other people's accounts or our systems without permission;
  • bypass credit limits, billing or feature controls, or exploit bugs to do so;
  • overload or disrupt the Service, including with automated requests.

7. Plans, payment and credits

The core app is free. Paid plans are monthly subscriptions taken through Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are shown in the app before you pay. Credits refresh each month, do not roll over and have no cash value. Former beta participants keep the discounts they earned.

You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Our refund policy explains our 14-day refund on your first payment and your other rights. If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you in advance and the new price will apply from your next renewal; you can cancel before then.

8. Updates and changes to the Service

The desktop app can update itself; you can turn automatic updates off in settings. We may add, change or remove features over time. If we make a change that significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, or we stop the Service, we will give you reasonable notice and refund any period you have paid for but cannot use.

9. Exporting and deleting your data

You can export your account data and delete your account at any time in Account > Settings. Deleting your account also cancels any active subscription. What happens to your data is explained in our privacy policy.

10. Suspending accounts

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, for example by abusing the Service or getting around billing. Where we can, we will warn you first and explain why.

11. Our responsibility to you

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and nothing in these terms affects them. We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses, such as lost profits or opportunities, if you use Novellier for business purposes. If faulty digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, we will repair the damage or pay you compensation.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will show the new date at the top, and if the change matters to you we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and cancel any plan.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there. If one part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
