Novellier 1.2.0 Release: Major Updates with Vault, Right-Click Menus & More

We're excited to announce the release of Novellier 1.2.0, our biggest update yet! This release brings major new features and improvements that make writing and organizing your novel easier than ever. From the brand new Vault versioning system to completely overhauled right-click menus, here's everything that's new.

NEW - Vault: Automatic Versioning Made Simple

The biggest addition to Novellier 1.2.0 is Vault, our new versioning tool that operates silently in the background to keep your work safe. No more worrying about losing important changes or wanting to go back to an earlier version of your chapter.

Easily set frequency of backups: Choose how often Vault creates automatic backups of your work.

Lifespan for older files: Easily set the retention period for days, months, even never.

Set storage limits: Automatic limits so Vault doesn't take up unlimited space.

Quickly see differences: Each version shows differences along with dates, times and more.

Restore options: Restore to current files or brand new files - your choice.

Right Click Menus: Completely Overhauled

We've completely rebuilt the right-click menu system from the ground up. The old system had bugs and inconsistencies that made it frustrating to use. The new system fixes all of these issues:

Closing bugs are fixed: No more menus that won't close or get stuck open.

Better positioning: Menus now appear in the correct places and work better.

Spell check integration: Spell check suggestions are now integrated directly into the editor right-click menu.

Chapters: NEW 2-Level System

Organization just got a major upgrade with our new 2-level chapter system. Now you can group your chapters under Acts for much better organization of longer works.

"Acts" can now be made: Use the add button to create Acts that group your chapters.

Massive clarity: Group chapters under an Act that can be minimized for easier navigation.

Drag and drop: Chapter drag and drop has been added - easily reposition chapters within and between Acts.

References: New Display Options

The References panel has received several improvements to make managing large collections of research easier.

Added a new display option: Check preferences for the new List view option.

List view for massive databases: Easily list your items in a name-focused format when you have hundreds of references.

Sizing now locks: Panel sizing is saved to your account and your preference loads on launch/login.

Bug fixes: Fixed duplicate return button bug when inside a folder and improved folder creation styling.

Formatting: Alignment and UI Improvements

Text formatting gets more powerful and easier to use with these updates:

Alignment options: Added alignment change to formatting - cycle through left, centre, right alignment.

Overhauled UI: Formatting panel now matches the rest of the program's design.

Smart selections: Selections change only that line, unselected formatting affects the entire editor.

Imports: PDF & Word Support Added

Bringing your existing work into Novellier is now much easier with expanded import options:

PDF & Word imports added: Easily convert and load these items into Novellier projects. No more copy-pasting from other documents.

Exports: 3 New Export Types

Getting your work out of Novellier and ready for publishing gets more flexible:

RTF exports: Rich Text Format for compatibility with older systems and specialized publishing tools.

Folder exports: Get raw full file exports of your entire project structure.

Word export coming: Word export is delayed to the next update while we fine-tune formatting options.

Spellchecking: Full Offline Dictionaries

Spell checking gets a major upgrade with completely offline functionality:

Implemented full offline dictionaries: No internet connection required for spell checking.

Fixed bugs and limitations: Spell checking is now more reliable and accurate.

Language selection: Added US/UK English selection in preferences under Languages.
